Volunteer Celebration

Representatives from Cogges Heritage Trust were thrilled to accept the award for OCVA Volunteer Organisation of the Year, presented by Cllr Mark Lygo, Vice Chair of Oxfordshire County Council.

OCVA hosted a celebration event on Thursday June 27th 2024 to recognise the achievements of volunteers across the County. An independent panel of judges together with OCVA staff selected those receiving Celebration Awards from all nominations. Those selected were invited  to the Volunteer Celebration Event at Headington Hill Hall, Oxford Brookes.

Categories for individuals were Young Volunteer Under 25, Long Service Volunteer, Volunteer of the Year and Oxford Brookes Student Volunteer. For a charity or group, there is just one category – Volunteer Organisation of the Year.

"Cogges nomination really showed the panel how well they support and nurture their volunteers. The nomination included examples of sharing volunteer successes, training and development and an appreciation of their volunteers. The panel felt that Cogges are a great example of best practice in Volunteer Management."
‘Cogges is much more than a volunteering organisation. It’s a place where volunteers find friendship and support, learn new skills and see first-hand the difference the hours they donate make. It’s a lifeline for many and the local community would be lost without it.’

General Manager, Guy Reed, said, “We were delighted to celebrate this award, which was first announced during Volunteers Week. My thanks to all our volunteers for the incredible work they do.

Cogges Heritage Trust ultimately exists to protect and preserve Cogges for future generations, but this is no small undertaking and takes considerable vision, funding and hard work. This ‘thank-you’ to our volunteers comes from my and the team’s hearts - we look forward to a wonderful summer and great days ahead!”

Thank-you to Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action and congratulations to all of the winners!
